"I want to be your personal writing coach."

Hi, my name is Mark Jacobson and I'd like to ask you a question. Do you want to learn how to write articles that get published? If your answer is yes, then I can help you. I have more than 25 years of experience as a published writer. Now, you can take advantage of that experience to further your own writing career.

You may be wondering why I am doing this. I'll be honest with you, I'm about to turn 50-years-old and I walk with the aid of crutches. It's getting too difficult for me to go running around tracking down stories and interviewing people like I used to do. Lately, I've been thinking about how else I can utilize my skills to their best advantage. I'm not ready to retire. The truth is, writers never retire. I like to joke that one day people will come into my home and find me face down on my keyboard. Upon seeing me, one person turns to the other and says, "I guess he retired."

But there is another, more important, reason why I coach writers. I've seen the industry change over the years. When I started writing, if your writing was rejected by an editor, your manuscript was returned with a critique or recommendations for making the piece better. That service has all but disappeared in the publishing business. Now a manuscript is returned with a polite, but impersonal, rejection slip. This does nothing to help a good writer become better.

The best that any writer can hope for, is a service that will read a completed manuscript and critique it for a hefty fee. I believe that it is better to have somebody work along with you and guide you during the writing process. This gives the writer the opportunity to understand what steps will improve the manuscript before it is rejected by an overworked editor.

Here's my offer. For $50 a month, I will be your personal writing coach. There are no contracts and you can quit at any time, but I don't think that you will want to. Think of it as having an award-winning editor looking over your shoulder as you write. The Internet, e-mail and instant messaging have made this possible.

I know that you may have your doubts about who I am, so here's my résumé. http://www.goatwb.com/resume.html When you finish reading it, I hope you will take me up on my offer. I look forward to working with you.
