New Rules for the Sunday Night Write Off!
We've had quite a bit of interest in the Sunday Night Write Off lately so I'm starting this new thread as the old one got very long.
The next Write Off will be the return of the Poetry Write off, this coming sunday. If you would like to sign up, drop an email to bartleby@lit.org, don't forget to give him your Lit.Org username! We don't always recognize the email address right of the bat
The short story write off will return in two weeks. We've had so many people sign up that we've lost track. If you want to do battle in the next Short Story write off, send an email to bartleby@lit.org with your Lit.Org username and he'll pick two people to go head to head.
As always, the Starters will go out sometime Saturday or early Sunday and you have until Midnight on Sunday to finish them. For the Short Story write off, you will recieve about 250 words to start with and you must finish the story. You need to write between 1200-1500 words + the story starter.
Any questions, post them here!

I would like to say this:
Bartleby you sneaky ragamuffin.
And that I have no concept of time in regard to respective locations, and therefore have some question as to how exactly the time frame is set, if one's saturday night could easily be another's sunday night.

Kitten as far as time frames go, I'll be sending both contestants the starter material at the same time, typically 36 hours before the deadline in local Central US time. If I recall correctly that you are in Texas you would be on local time for me. When the stories get done as far of day of the week is less important than the fact that each writer has the same time and word limit, and that both contestants are posted at exactly the same time.
As always if you are interested in being a contestant in either Write Off, simply drop me an email and I'll but your name in the hat.

Aunt Bea~
The previous Poetry Write Off's simply assigned the contestants a emotion or feeling to bring across in their poem, such as Frustration, Love, or Rage. I'm going to try something a bit different with this one and give the contestants an image or symbol, such as "shoes" or "chopsticks" for example, to incorporate into their piece. The significance of that image is up to the individual poet, as well as the overall tone of the piece. There is no word limit on this Write Off, but I will warn everyone that long poems tend to get less attention than concise ones. As always highest average rating wins. I would like to see at least 4 contestants for this Write Off and will be sending out the starter on Saturday afternoon. Entries will be posted on Lit.Org Sunday night.
If you have any more questions I can answer, please feel free to ask them here or email me directly at bartleby@lit.org.

No word limit on the poetry write off? Don't know if that's the smoothest move or not, that could end up biting you in the cute little butt if you aren't careful. Just my opinion you know, but a little restriction in the word limit area might not be as bad as you think.

Ok I'll bite. (And leave my keister out of it!)
I'll impose a 250 word limit for the Poetry Write Off.
And in breaking news. We have our first contestant lined up for this weeks Write Off. The old master hath returned to Valhalla to do do battle. That's right, Roganize also known as Kurkurrage here on the forums has thrown down the gauntlet. Anyone care to help him limber up his tired literary muscles for the epic showdown awaiting him at the end of the summer? Applications are now being accepted.

More breaking news.
Kitten Courna has informed me that she too wants to test her verse slinging skills this week, so that means we have Roganize, and K.C. and the rest of the Sunshine Band on deck. But folks I need two more people to make this really interesting. Any takers? Folks you know where to find me.

And then there were three...
Nightshade, webmistress of Candelabra has agreed to take part in the Poetry Write Off versus roganize, the angry old timer, and Kitten Courna the angry newcomer . We still need one more contestant people, let's see some hats fly into the ring.

250 word limit is a sound idea. I can be verbose to the point of absurdity if I'm not careful. I like to think that my style has changed sufficiently to be a pleasant surprise, but we'll have to wait 'till the ballots are in to tell won't we?
I'm glad to be up against such accomplished accomplices. KC and nightshade .. *bows* *phantom bow to the unidentified mystery lurker who shall become the fourth corner of the square*
I'd say 'may the best poet win .. yadda yadda' but I'm much more inclined to .. By the tinted beard of Amersh Djerbidial Raulbou, what the f*** is THAT? *points to a spot behind the other contestants*
Ain't gonna pull no punches ..

And then there were four.
The ballot is officially closed with notherain, scribe of two of the previous three Write Off's joining Roganize, Kitten Courna, and nightshade on the field of battle.
Starters will be sent on Saturday afternoon, and posted by midnight on Sunday. Good luck to all four of you.

News flash: The starter for this week's Poetry Write Off has been sent out.
Entries will be posted for your reading pleasure late Sunday night. Please support the hard work of your fellow writers by reading, rating and responding with comments. It's the feedback that makes these contest worthwhile.
With all of that said we will now begin accepting volunteers for next week. This time it will be a Short Story Write Off much like the one Spudley and I just finished. And for the record Spud, that was an excellent story! I'll be looking forward to as Rogan put it tilting again.

Okay, you can add me to an upcoming write off list of poetry participants. I just hope my writing rampage hasn't cooled off by then. But, competition might give it a kick start if it has.
Oh what the heck, I'll register for the story one too as long as it isn't erotic. I can't manage heaving bosoms and burgeoning manhoods without giggling.

Consider your name thrown in the hat.
Can't hardly wait to see what you'll cook up for the competition.
