Thanks for posting this, Mod. I'll be having a good look through for some comps I can submit to.
The sand of the desert is sodden red, -
Red with the wreck of a square that broke; -
The Gatling's jammed and the colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed his banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of schoolboy rallies the ranks,
"Play up! play up! and play the game!"

Is it normal to pay an entry fee?
"I shall always feel respect for every one who has written a book, let it be what it may, for I had no idea of the trouble which trying to write common English could cost one—And alas there yet remains the worst part of all, correcting the press.' Charles Darwin

Some contests have entry fees, some don't. I won't pay a fee.
