About Punk Soul Poet:
Our mission is to strengthen the bond between the arts. We like to think of the site as a gallery that hangs art, poetry, and fiction on its walls. The poetry and writing is thoughtfully selected to compliment the art that is displayed, and vice versa. We love all styles, from soft to brazen. We strive to present artists in a creative, non traditional way. Our muses are: Patti Smith, Oscar Wilde, Spalding Gray, Frida Kahlo, and Jim Carroll (among many others).
Visual Art:
We love art that is wholly original and courageously personal. We are also fond of poetic, subtle nuance that delves beneath appearances. Well executed and thoughtful work moves us. We're looking for artists that tell a story through their work, and exhibit a unique understanding of their subject. We are open to video, performance art, and photography as well as all other traditional mediums. We go absolutely wild for art that is laced with symbolism and meaning. We may be looking for something very specific as we curate the contents of the site, but don't be discouraged from submitting your art!
Email images as an attachment and send to
celeste@punskoulpoet.com. Please do not submit more than 6 images at a time. Or give us a link to your website.
Short fiction:
We're looking for submissions that are under 5000 words. Flash fiction submissions are also accepted, under 250 words. We want to fall in love with your characters, whether they are villains, victims, waitresses, athletes, or animals. We cherish work that inspires and provokes us. Please edit your stories carefully before submitting.
Poetry:
The curve of a line of words
may sway like a tender current.
Yet some lay low and rough
like hollow mollusks.
Each round word,
a hand plucked pearl.
In other words, give use words that are carefully chosen, and move us. Please don't submit more than four pieces at a time. Include a short bio. Again, a list of achievements isn't necessary, but feel free to include anything about yourself. If you've been published, we'd happy to hear about it! Ultimately, a unique voice, published or not, will get our attention.
