    Literary Living

    Hi all, check out literaryliving.com

It's a great site designed to get and keep writers writing, while giving support along the way. Joan Dempsey is the creator and she offers two great eBooks. The latest one is "60 Tips and Tools for Staying at the Writing Desk." Great stuff--very resourceful!

    Happy writing all!

Well, the idea for the program as she's designed it is to provide really deep group work, with guided trained writing teachers working with writers, providing an actual class with a beginning, middle and end that is meant to help writers define and work toward specific goals by the end. This is a wonderful community; however, it doesn't exactly do what Joan's program has the potential to.

Have you checked out all the resources available here in Writing 101? There is an entire course in creative writing right there. And in such boards as Writing Discussion the beginning writer has the opportunity of getting help from multiple sources, not just one person's ideas about how their progress should be guided. In my writing workshops, which are paid for by media houses and free for the students, I encourage people to talk with other writers and editors to get other ideas.

I'm not saying the programme is bad, but I would encourage everyone to examine what is available for free before spending any money. In the end each of us learns to write by writing.

Hi Garza, thanks for clarifying your original post and for the information. I have seen what the community here offers and it's great; however, it's not the same thing that Joan's offering at Literary Living. And in no way do I mean that one is better than the other, just that each has something to offer writers. Also, Lit. Living offers 3 free eBooks that are great and completely without financial obligation. The reason I posted the information about this program here is because I understood this section to be for writer's resources and wanted to provide folks with another resource that is great and helpful--for new and experienced writers actually. My post was in no way meant to take anything away from this community; only to add to people's resources available. Again, thank you for the opportunity to discuss.

I tend to support garza's view. I'm reluctant to encourage anyone to part with cash for what is so easily available on the internet for free.

Discussion is the nature of the forums. If you wish to simply advertise then the "Classifieds" area is better suited.

Discussion wasn't my intention here; however, I welcomed the opportunity to discuss when it arose. My intention here, again, was to highlight a resource, which I thought was the aim of this section. If I missed the boat, though, and should have put this information in the classified's then I apologize. Thanks again.
