    Writing group woes....

I am new to this forum, but have been writing (and publishing) for years. I belong to a writing group that I've been with nearly 6 years, and they're a wonderful group of people....BUT....the group tends to focus on line edits and the craft of writing. I have, lately, really been hungry for more of what I got in grad school - discussion/work on the art of writing. I don't want to leave my group as they are great friends, but am also at a bit of a loss as to how to change this focus. I talked with them about this some months ago, and have tried to be clear about what I'm looking for each time I take pages, but it has not really changed. They are very good at the line edits, and I value those, but that's not what I need right now. I'd be interested in any thoughts on addressing this kind of problem.....

Simplest solution is to find another group, one that meets your current needs. Doesn't mean you can't remain with the existing group for the friendships that you have there.
