The Stone Roses are back and I'm buzzing

Can't believe it yet. These guys are legends to me. I grew up with them on my stereo 24/7. I saw their final, disastrous show as they imploded. I never thought this would happen, but they're back.

Any other fans out there in WF land?

The sand of the desert is sodden red, -
Red with the wreck of a square that broke; -
The Gatling's jammed and the colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed his banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of schoolboy rallies the ranks,
"Play up! play up! and play the game!"

225,000 tickets sold in 14 minutes and I didn't get one.

Then they added another show and I got one. Can't wait. Buzzing for it already.

Shame about when they do and you realise that they have aged by about 15 years and the toll of rockstar lifestyles has led them to realise an album of sub-standard versions of the sub-standard material that they realised 15 or so years ago.

The royalties must by drying up and the cost of nostril teasers rising.

By the way... I am not a fan.

These reunions are generally for tax purposes. Not the most inspiring of circumstances. I'm not a fan but hopefully the musicians deliver a decent product and show for the folks that are (fans).

I am a huge fan of their debut album. Still play it. I am from Manchester and at that time their music summed up my life. I never saw them play but I once spotted Ian Brown in st Annes square! I am glad they are back together for a gig and hope they deliver. Their first album is timeless and I appreciate it all the more because it was not brought about by marketing and music industry promotion. It just happened, like the Hacienda.

I didn't expect to see a thread about the Stone Roses on this site. I still remember banging out a naff version of Made of Stone back in my teens on my Yamaha Pacifica..The first album has some indefinable magic about it for sure. All the songs were written when they were hungry for it, not like the Second Coming which is technically better but over-worked and unfocussed.
