Thread: Have you ever felt that spark?

Okay. I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right spot. I hope so. ;o)

Me and my sister were talking about this yesterday, and I wondered if any of you have felt this?

That 3 or 4 second glance with a stranger as you walk past them in the mall, the grocery store, or even sitting across from them at the dr.'s office. That instant when your eyes meet and there's an immediate attraction. Like a spark just flew in that moment. It's there and then it's gone the second you lose eye contact. It's strange to have an instant, fleeting, connection with someone like that.

Anyway, just wondered if any one else has experienced this besides me and my sister.

Or that 'THUMP' as your heart seems to miss a beat and you can't breathe properly? Yeah, this has happened once or twice

I love that feeling! It's weird how only a glance could make you feel like that. ;0)

Only when carelessly handling a plug-lead.

Yes, I have experienced the spark, but Bloggsworth got in first with the correct answer.

No I never have, sadly -- not when looking at a person, anyway. My heart feels like it skips a beat when I look at my dog though, or when I'm in an especially nostalgic mood.

Zootalaws, that's exaclty it! A complete stranger, and it's gone almost as fast as it hits! He knows you're feeling it, and you know he's feeling it. Both knowing, both are feeling it! That probably sounded a bit confusing!!! lol

This thread reminds me of the Beautiful song by James Blunt. You know, where he and a girl share a moment that will last till the end.

In my experience this has happened a few times. Almost feel like you should talk to the person, make some idle chit chat or something.

Caelum, you had the same idea as Bluesman from post #6. That's funny that you both thought of the same song. I'm going to look for it on youtube. I want to have a listen. I already like James Blunt, so I've likely heard it before.

The only problem if you stopped... what on earth would you say? I know I would never have the guts to say something. lol

lol, yeah, I didn't read the thread before posting. Great minds think alike, eh Bluesman?

I've only felt - what I think you're describing - once in my life. At least that I can recall now.

It was not with a she but with a he. Another fellow U.S. Marine, and if I recall correctly, during the School of Infantry (SOI).

Sitting Indian style, probably cleaning our weapons, I could not help but stare across at him in the Squad bay. My mind and fear told my eyes to move but my heart kept them fix even as his eyes rose to my direction. The Marine Corps I knew was highly homophobic and unless one understands that they can't comprehend the danger that entailed.

To my shock he just fixed his gaze on me. He knew while raising his eyes I was looking at him. He did not object. We simply stared at each other for seconds that seemed like quite a long time. My heart seemed to pant. I felt as though I would dissolve. He was not a manly Marine but what young women or girls might describe as cute.

My friend sitting next to me caught us. We both instantly dropped our gazes. LMAO. He was looking back and forth at both of us knowing, like he wanted to reprimand us or interrogate me, but he said nothing. He left it at that.

I never acted up again. By the time I left the Corps higher ranking NCO's wanted me to reenlist.

I don't consider myself gay, so, I'm not quite sure why that happened. And I'm not sure 100% what that other Marine was thinking. I never spoke to him my whole time in SOI. Too afraid, I didn't trust myself. So, I'm not sure if he liked me, didn't care, or was used to other men gazing upon him as an object of desire. So, I'll never know.
