The ability to assess and conclude with accuracy.

On the other hand, and in a word, "No".

Well, yes, at least by your "few words" criteria.

I think maybe your query is well-suited to a word game such as "define intelligence in under ten words" or something like that. That will hopefully draw out simple metaphors and short process pronouncements like mine.

Otherwise the debate will grow wordy-wordy in no time flat! It's inherent to the subject.

edit: If you haven't studied intelligence in depth, you should. It's a fascinating subject with much intricacy and individual-meaning.

Intelligence cannot be defined, but only used.

Red with the wreck of a square that broke; -
The Gatling's jammed and the colonel dead,
And the regiment blind with dust and smoke.
The river of death has brimmed his banks,
And England's far, and Honour a name,
But the voice of schoolboy rallies the ranks,

Got it in one. And we're born with it. It is subject to development like all of our other abilities. Therein lies the rub.

As you think, so shall you become.

Yes, I think so. It's like how we all have thumbs yet not everyone can open a pickle jar.

So we are all born with the ability to acquire intelligence rather than being born intelligent. The same as having an inherent ability to acquire language, but we cannot speak from birth.
