Do you prefer to train your horse to race around a track? Or do you prefer a fox hunt?
There are risks and benefits to each, which appear to be nicely analogous to writing.
Please point out to me where the analogy fails, if you can. I'm not seeing it yet.
A few points from the track's "Yes" column:
Racing has a greater fan base.
You must weave the track with fast-paced expertise.
There is one winner in each race.
A few points from the fox hunt's "Yes" column.
The hunt will contain surprises.
It's how you play the game.
There are more roles than winners.
