I've never seen or heard convincing evidence to support the idea that there's something that exists outside of the body beyond death. Much as it would be comforting to believe there is. Many people seem to believe in souls with little reason to do so other than it would be nice if it were true. A lot of people have difficulty with the idea that death really is the end.

Cheers,
Rob

i totally agree with you on that, but like you said, it is nice to think that there is something after death.

I would have to agree with Rob about the death thing. As much as I want to I just can't make myself believe it. And yes I am aware that the three books I posted about relate heavily to religion.

Oh, and I would sell mine for a Klondike bar... and a Squeeze-It. Mmm.... Squeeze-Its. I wish they still made those.

lol!! i really have my priorities out fo order.

like rob, i'd need to see evidance for souls. i'm a sceintist and i believ in nothing unless you can prove it beyond reasoible doubt. and even then, according to the laws of physics, that observation is subject to uncertinty ie. there is a margin of error.

so if someone invents a soul-meter and i can measure the souls in an area. then i'll belive. :p

Lol well done rob you have just dented my aith in the afterlife for life, lol.

But seriously thats the whole point of the afterlife, you say you have never seen any proof that there is one, how can you prove it apart from using a ouija board and it is not a good idea trust me on that.

The afterlife is something that you have to have faith in, things only exist when we believe in them anyway.

so dont worry heather, as long as you believe in it, im sure its there.

If I hadn't already sold it I would sell my soul to be a fly on the wall in my neighbours house for one hour - two gay men live there, one's pretty hot, and the other one has bigger tits than me. Their arguements in the garden about the overgrown tree make for priceless listening so I'd love to watch them inside.

I would consider selling my soul to the devil if I could live my life over. Now that I'm so smart with hindsight I could do a MUCH better job this time.

I think there is no Heaven, it's a myth to keep people in line. As for Hell, it is here on Earth! Take a look around, open your eyes and look at all the hellish things on display for everyone to see. Spirits? Yes, I think they are real, they are the now dead people that watch out for us and guide us - save us sometimes even. Well, that's my thought on the subject...sDt

If I actually believed in souls, I'd sell mine for... oh, I don't know... instant A's in college. That way I can pay even less attention that usual.

Most religions are just myths to keep people in line. Take Christianity in the UK (because I know most about that). It started as a bunch of priest telling people that if they obeyed the church and gave some of their lands and money, they could live forever. (slightly simplified, but that's the basic gist of it). I think religion itself is kind of stupid (no offense to anyone religious - I can see the reasons for believing in it, I just can't see how I would ever believe in something that is, essentially, just something that a lot of people say is true, with no evidence whatsoever), after all, the unsubsantiated belief in the afterlife / god has caused more wars throughout history than anything else (stupid religious monodominance...).

And the whole idea of a benevolent, forgiving God (in Christianity) is kind of scuppered by Hell. "Oh yes, believe in God and you can go to heaven. God will forgive anything if you just love him. He is the kindest being in the universe." "But what if I don't worship him?" "THEN YOU WILL BURN IN HELL FOR ALL ETERNITY, HERETIC!"

See what I mean? God suddenly doesn't seem as nice as before, does He? After all, even down here on "sinful" old Earth, we don't burn people for all eternity just for having a dissenting opinion... I just think religion was kind of startyed when people started asking that age-old question - why? Back then, we didn't have any answers for that, so God was made up as a catch-all answer. If we didn't know something - God did it. etc. etc.

If you were actually offended by any of that, I am deeply sorry, but just remember that it's only my opinion - I'm attacking your religion, not you. And hey, anything that proclaims itself as above criticism and parody (remember "The Life Of Brian" and how may complaints that got?) deserves all the criticism it gets.
