Rather frustrating for me. I cannot delete the Norton from the laptop, neither activate it. And whenever I attempt to install the Kaspersky, a message appears stating that I have to uninstall the Norton first.

Problem: the file instopts.dat does not exist.

    Any thoughts?

Have you gone into the control panel and used the Add/Remove Programs option, then selected Norton? Otherwise, just make an empty notepad file and rename it instopts.dat.

Let me know if I was any help.

    Not exactly.

The first time I went to the Add/Remove panel, I attempted to delete the thing, and it says that the file is lost. I downloaded the file, and added it to the software, didn't work either. I went to the troubleshooting, and that one directed me to yet another link, where there is the Symantec auto repair, i ran that ... and yaaaay ... there is another file missing!!!!

The problem I'm facing is that if I go to the company, they will undoubtedly format the laptop, and all my information will be lost, and I'm too annoyed and frustrated to back up files now!

Please, anyone has any thoughts about this? Kage, your a computer brilliant, dig something up!!

P.S: The notepad thing didn't work,
P.S 2: If I attempt to delete by the 'right click delete', it won't respond!
