Choose a character, and looking at the surface and not the symbolism or deeper meaning, and explain his/her/it's actions. I'll start.
Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye punches Stradlater because Stradlater would not tell Holden if he had given an old sweetheart of Holden's, Jane Gallagher, the time. Holden is a psychotic who does not want anybody but himself knowing what time it is, and he became convinced that Stradlater had told Jane what time it was.
later, Holden asks Sally to elope with him. She declines, and Holden becomes furious, and insults her. He begins to show signs of borderline personality disorder, and anti-social personality disorder when he does a 180 and tries to apologize multiple times. When Sally leaves, he says he doesn't care. He then goes to a museum, specifically, the Inuit exhibit, where nothing changes. Though some would say Holden identifies with the mannequins because he is scared of leaving childhood, it is because they are not real people, and Holden becomes uncomfortable around other humans.
All in all, Holden is a dangerous psychotic who will probably end up killing you and then himself if you tell somebody what time it is.
