Thread: Simile game,

Similes compare two different things indirectly using the words “like” “as” or “than”, for example, “He climbed like a monkey”, “She was as fat as a house”, “He was faster than a speeding bullet”.

So the game is to complete the simile the last person set up and then set up a new one for the next person. You can, of course, use the normally accepted form for example if someone gave you “He swam like ...” you could finish it “He swam like a fish”, on the other hand you might want to finish it “He swam like a bicycle”.
So, would someone like to finish this and give us a new one to think about?

It was taller than ...

It was taller than my Uncle Roger's pet giraffe.

She was cool like a...

She was cool like the dark side of the moon.

He was more spacey than. . .

(I can see this adjective going many ways.)

He was more spacey than Kevin.

I felt terrible and looked like ...

I felt terrible and looked like a Victorian.

Taking Mr Buckle's suggestion a little further, why not up the ante a bit and make these similes really clever? Any fool can write I was as spacey as Kevin. But how about stuff of the calibre of "Positron emission tomography makes danse macabre look like the Teddy Bears' picnic"?
