That's right. I think Steve Jobs is actaully behind this scheme, TT. Grab market share from Microsoft through an agressive guerrilla marketing campaign that utilizes fake posts on obscure writing sites.

wow, this is really amazing. I come on with some simple ideas about how to use different kinds of programs, and I even make a point of not boasting or bragging in any way. Instantly the community here blasts every point I try to make, they call my ideas idiotic, and then they say I am a spy working for apple or whatever. I tell ya, if it wasnt so saddening, it'd be pretty funny.

I just want to say right now... I am not here to offend anyone or promote any products.... I really dont even believe I have to say this.

Hey man, you can lump me in there, because I think it's idiotic for you think Apple is somehow better than Microsoft, when they're both the same shit--a tool for a writer to use. They both have their pros and cons. So this war about which is the better computer is idiotic beyond belief.

You are such a numbskull, TT. Many creative people find Macs to be a more intuitive environment. That's why Macs are preferred by graphic designers, writers, film makers, interior designers -- the list goes on. This is a fact.

For most people, Macs are easier to use. A work environment in which you feel more comfortable can enhance creativity. Is that too complex for you to grasp? I make my living using Macs and PCs and if I had to choose, I'd chose a Mac. As usual, you have no idea what you are talking about.

No, you're the numbskull for stereotyping entire graphic design, art, and writing community.

Show some fucking statistics, instead of pulling it out of your ass.

I don't know about the rest of 'em, but Macs are certainly the industry standard for graphic designers. Although I can't back that statement up with 'statistics'.

But I did used to be one.

Stereotyping? If I spent all evening surfing for statistics, testimonials, user studies etc., you still wouldn't get it. You are missing the bigger point TT, which of course, comes as no surprise.

Edit: I am also a designer/art director, NightOwl.

My sister is studying graphic design, and she has a mac, but personally, I don't like the programs on it at all. For me at least, they're not the least bit more intuitive.

It's not so much the programs, but the working environment. Many creative people prefer it. I can't show you statistics, although I'm sure I could, given the time. Based on my personal experience, having worked extensively on both Macs and PCs, and that I make my living doing so, I find Macs are easier to use. Also, I am a very right-brained thinker, not a computer geek.

With that, I'll say it would be very hard to make a judgment either way, just by sitting down and trying out a few applications. I would think you'd have to learn the programs and work in the environment for some time to make a meaningful evaluation. Otherwise, it's just going to be based on what you are used to.

^For the record, I can't stand Macs, and I do a lot of video editing, graphic design, and writing on my laptop. The Mac interface may be more 'intuitive' or 'user-friendly' to some, but I'm not seeing it. Maybe it's because I've been using Windows my entire life, but I never understood it when people complained about how hard Windows was to use. I actually find the Mac interface annoying to use.

As for the original poster - I'm glad you've found a computer environment that works well. I don't really see how anything you've posted can't be applied to Windows or any other operating system. I organize my music in iTunes (mainly because I have an iPod), and I have over 5,500 songs. Microsoft Word is an perfectly fine word-processing software - in fact, it destroys every other word-processing software I've ever tried, hands down. As for a dictionary/thesaurus - save yourself some hard drive space and discover the wonders of Dictionary.com. Your sticky note deal is also included in Windows Vista, or you could just open up a new document.

Overall, it sounds like you just got a new laptop and are reveling in the new features. That's great, but most of what you said isn't really all that hot once you get over the fact that it's there.

I think it's nice that you shared and it's sad that a mod made a post like that. I don't think you said anywhere it would make you a better writer, just pointed out it was convenient. This definitely blew way out of hand, sorry to see that.

Windows sucks, but it can do everything you mention. (I'm sure what having iTunes has to do with creating great writers. This is piffle and then you get pissed off when people say so.

TT, you are the last person who should call for deletions. You realize your idiotic posts (of which this is but one) and shithead attitude would lead to you being the first one out?
You'd have to find some other forum and pretend you're a painter or stock car driver or porn star instead of lurking around her pretending to be a writer.
