Just Finish It
I keep asking annoying questions over in Critique & Advice, so I thought I'd offer something here. I'm not big-headed enough to think this is absolutely sound advice for everyone, but it worked for me.
It's so much easier to just finish writing something before you try to fix it, analyze it, or show it to anyone. Just finish a first draft before you do all that stuff. With the added perspective of knowing exactly where you're going, that opening that you don't feel quite right about will be easier to work with or delete entirely.
I know I'm not a pro or anything, but I just became happier with the way I write when I decided not to get stuck on anything. It's kind of like taking a test: if you get stuck, move on so you don't run out of time and go back to the question later.
