What about the 'seven major plots'? Does anyone actually know them? It sounds like a load of crap made up by someone who was having a hard time coming up with something original, so he decided to start a conspiracy which suggests that there are only seven plots in the world, each of which is mixed up to make many different stories. Sorry, not buying into it.

Sam.

Has anyone read or seen the play The Firestarters (Firebugs in the USA) by Max Frisch? It features protagonist antagonist and arsonist. If it had a ventriloquist it would be perfect.

But seriously folks, it's a good example because it (like works by Pinter, another good example) doesn't have a clear cut hero or villain. It has characters, all flawed, all struggling for prominence, all of equal importance. Like in life; no protagonists, antagonists, very few ventriloquists, just people struggling to get by and to be noticed.

Whenever you hear someone pulling out 'Man vs...', stab them in the eye with a sharp stick. It's the stuff pretentious gits like to waffle about, then waste hours arguing which category certain books and movies fall into.
