Which just goes to show how little you know. That episode actually proved to be extremely traumatic to a bunch of 8 year olds at a school I know of. Why? Not very long ago one of their classmates parents bludgeoned his spouse to death and hid the body in a box in the garden. That's a very fresh and vivid memory for those kids, and - inane thought the soap may be - it affected them deeply.

Now I'm not saying it shouldn't be shown - there's no subject on earth that won't cause somebody offence or hurt, and we can't shy away from all of them - but don't think that just because mommy let you watch an inane prison soap that you're impervious to the effects of TV.

Soaps probably aren't the best thing for a child to watch anyway. I recall watching Prisoner when I was a kid. My father never wanted me to watch it (it was set in a women's prison and had a character called Vinegar Tits and there was often someone slamming someone else's arm in the iron) but my mother always snuck me out when his back was turned so I could watch it.

It didn't scar me.

So I doubt seeing a man pretend to be buried alive in some inane soap would scar any kid who understood it was just acting.
oh yes how hideous, i remember that show
i also remember watching The Box and No.96
through the slight crack of my bedroom doorway
in those days, pretty raunchy, these days laughable

censorship is one of those necessary evils, unfortunately
there is a fine line between it and puritanical interference
other times, you've got to wonder how stuff gets through
