Time Zones
I'm currently writing a novel which is set in New York, but has recurring parts in Russia, England, and Brazil. At the start of my chapters, I tell the location and the time. Should I just use GMT for everything (putting a disclaimer on the inside pages stating that all times are GMT) and just work it that way? Or should I go to the hassle of finding out the time differences and names? Does it make a difference?

The easiest thing for your readers would probably if you wrote the time in local time. Like "Moscow, Russia. 12:52 AM (Local time)" or something. After all, readers could be confused if you write that it's 2 PM and then have your characters going to bed.
Of course, the amount of time passed could be important to the story (like a deadline or a ticking bomb) in which case I'd probably go with showing both local and GMT time. A little more work for you but probably easier for the readers (at least for me as a reader).

Or if time there's a deadline involved, perhaps use a countdown method. X hours to go. X-1 hours to go.
