A suggestion; why not think about what you’ve written BEFORE creating a thread?

How would it be if, before you create a thread seeking answers or opinions, you make absolutely certain of what you’re saying, be totally sure in your own mind that you know what you want and totally sure there can be no question of misunderstanding in the minds of your readers?

I mean, this is a writing site, after all. It's all good practice.

So why not write it all out in a word-processing window and think long and hard about it before even opening this site? I'm sure you can handle Copy/Paste.

Shhhh! You're not supoosed to reveal your (our) tricks. What kind of magic looks good after you explain it?

On the other hand, why don't people read and make sure that they fully understand a post before thinking carefully about their reply?

You and I both know his closing words were "and our forum".

Perhaps the key word here is "and".

Yes, I agree. Perhaps it is.

Dictionary.com

Most of the people who come on the forum want to be read, even if it seems as though they only came for the argument sometimes. The stated aim of the forum is to give us the means to improve our writing. At times this clashes with the desire to gain readership, threads get bumped, signatures cause offence etc.
The aim of this thread is to explore other ways that one can get noticed.
Did you miss this bit, OX?

Ok, here’s the deal: I will apologise and shut up, IF you can explain to me how anything I wrote in my original response runs contrary to the aim of the thread.

I said, get more members. More members = potentially more readers. I rest my case.

Did I not offer support of your original post? The point that has been raised is that it only covered half of the story.
