An Essay About "Blue"
I was just wondering if given an essay topic on "Blue", what would you write about?
The title of the essay itself is ambiguous so I don't think anything too straight-forward will do.
Thinking of something that has a deeper meaning than a regular essay but not so philosophical at the same time... ...
Any suggestions?

Sounds like a homework assignment. What would YOU write about it?

I would write a short sci-fi story about a botched operation known as BLUE, where a team of experts fly to an ice planet to try and discover if there is water beneath the surface. However, they discover the planet has a horrific past as they find the reason why it is covered with ice. Then they must escape for their lives as mayhem ensues.
Oh wait... essay... Sounds too much like homework.

I will definitely write about Blue's Clues. Just kidding!
I will start of course by defining the color blue or some scientific facts about it. I'll also breakdown what the color represents and its characteristics. There's so many things to write on this topic. It's a matter of writing in a right flow and proper combination of details.

I disagree, amelie. I think with an assignment like this it's more a matter of finding a unique angle. I doubt your tutor really wants to read about blue's 'scientific name', its place on the colour spectrum or any other similarly dry facts. The nature of the title you have been given implies to me that they want to see how you respond to an abstract concept in a creative way.
You could write about a whole host of things: depression, the sea, the sky, or anything else that 'blue' might represent to you. My boyfriend's sister has a cat called Blue, so she could write about him, for example.
My advice would be to give your teacher a break from the monotony and try to write something a bit peronal or original. I remember at university being set a very open-ended assignment to write an essay on the subject of 'madness'. I called mine 'Am I Mad?' and littered it with personal anecdote as well as research about differing definitions of madness. I received a first for it along with some glowing comments about how refreshing it was to read something different. Your teachers are people too, they do not want to read 30 versions of the same essay.
Anyway, that's just my take. Hope it helps - best of luck with it!

I have to agree with this one, try to write something new or something that is not usual. Be original, create your own concept and never rely on a common topic and just simply edit it with your ideas.

This is a good example of a not so familiar or an original topic.

Wow, you have a brilliant, wide open, full of opportunity essay title and you have to ask?
