If you're worried an agent/editor won't take you seriously, don't say your age so their opinion isn't colored. If they do accept you, you should tell them; and if they somehow end up firing you after that, which they certainly won't, then that's probably not an agent you want in the first place.

Nobody's too young to write. That said, I think at this stage in your career, you should be approaching it as a labor of love. Eventually you might get published, but that stuff's for later. Hone your craft and take it seriously, even if others don't.

The truth is, alot of editors, and publishers and agents, and professionals in the business don't admit it, but they do look down on young authors. But remembe,r you will eventually meet an actual person in teh business (not a robot who only looks for one thing, heh) and then ur writing and ur writing alone is what counts.

its like people think you cant be wise when your young, just on account of alot of moronic young people saying they're wise. well, theres alot of moronic old people who say theyre wise too. go figure. ^.^

To be fair, Mary Shelly's father was a famous author, she was extremely lucky to be brought up in that age with those people, along with how talented her mother was (even though she died soon after labour)

I'm 18 and personally, i think i'm too inexperienced to publish a sucessful book, but it won't stop me trying.
