I am writing a book on Time Travel. I want to get it published and this is my first writing. I do not know how safe it is to give it to the publisher for evaluation. I wish to know about the procedures once you complete your work and move towards publishing, like copy protecting or so. Idea of the book is uniqe and i do not want it to be copied or misused.

Copyright in India is a grey area, so if you're looking to get published at home then the bleak answer is you have virtually no protection.

However, publishers don't go out of their way to steal work; they have no need to, they're swamped by manuscripts.

Ideas are not protected, only the material itself is.

Your best bet to getting published is meeting publishers and finding out what they look for. If they can put a name to a face to a book, then there is a better chance your book will get a fair read.
