I'm currently preparing a piece for publication. I posted it here for critique a couple of months ago. My question is this:

Is the reference to the poem by Margaret Wise Brown infringing on copyright? I'd like to know before I begin to send it out only to receive stock rejection letters.

Any advice would be helpful.

If you refer to it, no problem. If you quote it, get ready for the rejections.

Reference sounds fine, quoting is dubious, quoting without reference is suicide.
