I NEED HELP! WS Screenplay Agency
Hi everyone,
I have been submitting proposals to Agents to represent my screenplay and script work. I recieved an email today from ws screenplay agency asking to see examples of my work. But after doing a google search on them to get more info on the Agency (other than their own site) I found this site:
Warnings and Cautions for Writers--Writer Beware's Thumbs Down Agency List
Which scared me a little.
Has anyone heard or worked with this agency, and if so could you let me know. I would appreciate it greatly.
Regards
Jason

The same thing happened to me and I spoke to the person who runs the site with the Writer's Beware Thumb Down List via email. I emailed back and forth with the site with the warning and the 'agency' asking to see my work. I was basically a 'middle man' for the sites and their ongoing pissing match. The warning site wanted to challenge the agency to see their credentials but the agency would not provide any proof of their successes with writers. In the end I believed the warning site and stopped contacting the agency. The warning site also put me in touch with people who were burned by the agency and their experiences finalized my decision to stay away. It is your call on the matter but I hope this helps. As much as I want my work out there, I wasn't going to take the chance of getting burned by some phony agency that in the end would only make me look bad.

Walk away. Over the years I've been contacted by publishing houses that were listed on Beware sites. They contact people because so many people don't contact them because of their bad reputation.
Save yourself headaches and grief and look elsewhere.
Have Fun,
Jeff

I say walk away also. If they were legit they should have no problem producing a list of books they've sold to publishers and writers who have been satisfied working with them.

Basically, if SFWA says beware, run like hell. As a rule of thumb, any agent or publisher who comes looking for you is likely to be out to fleece you; reputable agencies are too busy to go looking.
