Ive just finished my first book. Where is the best place to send it for a chance of getting it published.

Well I think you need to get in touch with publishers. Since this is your first book it may be best, trying to start off with a small publisher. I am sure you can find some names through google.

Invest in the 2008 edition of Writer's Market.

Chock full of info on agents and publishers, what genres they accept, whether they want a synopsis or the whole manuscript, their preferred format, their policy on exclusive submissions and all sorts of information.
