You can’t write when you’re drunk, it’s as simple as that.

But you can write while on your way to oblivion, and when recovering the next day, I think that’s how our well-known, alcoholic authors managed it.

Other mind-altering substances may be different, for different artistic pursuits, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds comes to mind.

I've never tried to write while drunk. My problem tends to be that I drink when I'm upset and therefore go from buzzed to obliterated before I realize. I try to limit my drinking because in most situations I have a tendancy to think I can drink alot more then I can and therefore don't know when to stop. Plus when I'm drunk I don't think abot writting, I think about which males in the room are single and which ones do I have the best chance with. I suppose that would make for some good stories though.
