Yes a long thread title I know, but I am about to finish up my current story which I titled 'Dreaming With Your Eyes Open' and I have written a scene near the end where the protagonist uses the title of the story in the dialog. Does it seem cheesy or not to do something like that ?

I would consider that more the norm than an exception. And it would help to tie your story together. Titles are usually a statement of the global story: THE SUN ALSO RISES or GONE WITH THE WIND, or they're pulled right out of the dialog as in THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS or THE DA VINCI CODE.

I make it a point to always try to fit my title inside the story.

The question if probably more like, "is it cheesy to use a line from my story as the title?"

And the answer would be: Why would it?

Lost in Some Story

I usually don't have a title until I finish. The titles I use are almost always drawn directly from a line out of the story.
