Some magazines consider anything visible online to be previously published. Others are more lenient. Besides that, you can't steal what you can't see. If you think the benefits of putting your work online outweigh the downfalls, do it. If you don't, don't.

Personally, I don't - but that's more due to a disdain for group editing than anything else.

Put up parts, and apply the things you get told to the rest of the piece on your own. Depepnding on the length, you might not be able to post it all anyway.

For a longer manuscript, try a critique group rather than a messageboard.
