Question Legal Issue

I’m currently writing a novel in which one of the protagonists smokes a particular unique brand of cigarettes. This brand eventually becomes a symbol for this character.

Am I legally able to use the brand name in the book? Can I use it as the title? (Assuming I can’t) How do I go about getting permission to use their name? How much will it cost me?

(It happens to be an Indonesian brand, does that make a difference?)

The novel I’m working on could be categorized as realism, how can I make it culturally realistic, and yet avoid legal issues on every page?

I don't think there is a legal issue with using a brand name, as long as you're speaking about it objectively and not slandering it in any way - I've read many books where brand names are used and some are quite famous, and as far as I know free of legal-suits.
