That's the way you should do it. There's always going to be someone out there who likes your work. You just have to find them.

A young guy walked around with a movie script he had just written and tried to get it made into a movie. Problem is he was very young and unknown, so no one wanted to make the movie. He had almost given up when someone finally accepted it, more or less in pity. Name of the movie? Jaws. It became one of the best horror movies of all time. Not because it's scary, but more like it's a really great movie. (Trivia: That woman getting attacked by a shark in the beginning? She was hurt during the shooting of the scene, so some of the screams are real.)

This is largely irrelevant, but I never personally saw the appeal of Jaws. The shark looks like it's drowning, for Christ's sake...

It's a really old, low-budget movie. Besides, it's not really about the shark killing people. It's more about the fear of sharks. To me, at least. It's the same way Open Water is really scary. OW is simply about a tragic mistake where two divers are counted twice, so two other divers are left out at sea. It takes hours before someone finally realise the error, but by then it's very hard to locate the two missing divers. What would you do in a situation like that? And the best part? Just like Jaws, it could happen for real. People are attacked by sharks every year, so you could be the next on the list, so to say.

Sharks can drown. They don't have gills that pump water like other fish, and have to keep moving to force water through their gills. If they stop swimming, they drown.

Indeed sharks can drown, but my point was that the anamatronics weren't that good. Perhaps it's just I'm used to better, though...

You're used to better because there have been 32 years worth of advancements in anamatronics/graphics/etc. What can you expect from a movie made in the 70's? It is likely your parents were still just kids when it came out.

Okay, I wasn't expecting the biology lesson. But technology has improved a lot since jaws was made, especially when it comes to film making. You have to expect the older films to look a bit cack.

What Jolly said.
I hold on to the slips though, even if they're not personal, just to help keep a kind of record of what I've submitted and to where.
