separating scenes

how do i explain this one... well... er... how do you differentiate between a scene that is connected with the first scene but not necessarily following on and a completely different scene that has nothing to do with the first scene. gee! this is tough... and i'm not talking about chapters here. i use: * * * (whatever they are called) for scenes within a chapter that are not directly connected and a line space for those that are connected, such as a flashback. if that made any sense to anyone: am i doing it right?

And to me. It's up to you really. Oh, and those star things (*) are called asterisks.

I will usually leave an extra space and begin by describing the new spot.

sorry, but correct ms format does not allow any empty lines... the 'line break' [for whatever reason you see fit to insert one] is shown by placing the symbol/s of choice in the center of the line, leaving none empty... i prefer simplicity, so use a single #... triple 'asterisk' is ok, too... many writers use that...

here are good format guides that spell it all out for you...
