Recomendations on writing schools
Greetings! New to the forums here.
My wife is an aspiring writer. Can someone please recommend a good online school/program in getting semi-formal education on how to write? She is into sci-fi, horror and fantasy.
She recieved a flier in the mail from Penn Foster on Freelance Writing. But we know nothing about the school.

The best way she's gonna learn how to write is actually through the act of writing. Schools can maybe give you a few tips and teach you how to think from their point of view . . . but in the end the greatest teacher is yourself. If she continues to read voraciously and write as much as possible, she'll improve ten times faster than with the help of a writing school. Of course, this is partly opinion, but a great many writers hold the same viewpoint as I do when it comes to this situation.

English classes. Ignore the essays and stuff and just focus on the creative writing bit. It can be a bit restrictive though.

The obvious advice is to read a lot, write a lot, but some people find that hard to do in a vacuum (else why are we all here?).
Your local adult education department may run creative writing classes. Alternatively try your library for local writing groups. You'll probably learn less there, but at least you'll get to do coffee and gossip with kindred spirits!

If she reads, then she probably knows more about writing than she thinks. I second Mike C's advice to start looking around for local classes.
