I think this thread's getting off topic a bit.

maia, I have nothing personal against you, I promise... it's simply that you have to keep reminding us that you are however old and have however so much experience. You shouldn't have to remind us--your experience should show through. Don't you agree?
I apologize to the thread as well, and will cease my arguing as of this post, if that's the general preference.

Last time I had to deal with a character like this, I treated the "voices" as any other character. In that situation, mind you, he saw them as well. The big hint that they weren't real came in the fact that he was the only character to react to or interract with the people he imagined.

That works when the character can actually see the owners of the voices, but if not it tends to get a bit confusing. You don't really know where they're coming from.

sorry to have to digress yet once more, but this requires a reply:

no, i can't agree... reason is i am often replying to newer members [or in threads by same] who do not know anything about me and i therefore offer a bit of background to show why i believe my comments should be considered valid...
that you have seen me say so before, should not be the issue, should it?... and side-tracking a thread to complain about it in public is neither germane to the issue at hand, nor polite, is it?...
i don't know about the others here, but i, for one, certainly do prefer you not argue this point any further here... if you wish to continue the debate, you are free to email me, as my email address is often made available in posts, is included on my linked-below site, and in my profile here...

There's really not much left for me to argue... I've said all that I need to say. Except that I've heard you tell me of your age and experience many times. The first time was enough. There . . . now I've said what I wanted to say. :]. In any case, no wrong feelings, maia, because I know you mean good in the end. Peace.

I just have to defend Maia here. When I first joined the forum it didn't take long to work out those who had the experience to give valuable feedback, and those who just pretended to. Maia, you fall into the first group. I'm always happy to read your comments on my posts!
Killned, when you've got over 10,000 posts (and I see you're well on your way there - overtaking me in a flash!) the respect from others will come, let me guarantee.

Je33ie, 10,000 posts is very impressive, I will agree . . . but who's to say that anyone with enough time and boredom on their hands can't come up with 10,000 posts of pure bs? Now, I know that a great percentage of what maia says is genuine, but post count is a poor way to display one's wisdom. The people that I do respect--and maia, I do respect you at times, though this slightly wavers here and there--have far less post counts on this forum.
Also, I am not hunting for respect, which you implied. I'm not really hunting for anything other than knowledge.

yes, i've averaged 10 posts a day here, for almost 3 years... considering the fact that i monitor several writers forums/boards daily and don't take any days off other than when traveling or the rare times i've been down sick or injured, my high 'count' is not the result of trying to 'display wisdom' but only the result of doing what i can to help those i feel i can help, in some way... and that's what i do 24/7, both online and by email...
and, fyi, it's not from boredom, that i do this... far from it... i consciously chose to devote whatever time i have left in this life to helping others, with the abilities i've been fortunate enough to have been 'given' [or acquired]...
can we now return this thread to its intended purpose?... email me if you need to keep up this silly stuff about my age or motivation, will you please???
m
ps: thanks for your support, jessie!

I already said I was finished, and then je33ie brought up something else, so I was actually addressing her . . . my intent isn't really to keep the argument up--I've moved on--but it is my intent to respond to others' questionings and to say what I believe.
Returning to the original thread would be nice.
