Best places to write?
Where do you do most of your writing. Do you feel able to be more creative in a quiet library with a good old fashioned pen and pad, or is a laptop in front of the television more beneficial to you?
I know for me it's a pen and paper in a relaxed environment. Truth be told if I could get to a quiet library often enough it would be most productive but just being in my room with my girlfriend is inspiration enough.
I then of course get to typing it up. What is most beneficial to you?

In my room, with rock music playing in the background. Sometimes I watch an action film first for inspiration.

At home, when the kids aren't around, with music occasionally, often in silence. Even my travel stuff I write when I'm back home, using the notes/pictures/memories I have.

Anywhere as long as it's quiet.

Usually I write at home (on the computer) with a CD on in the background. I also write at college in the computing room, in my frees, but only if I've been bitten seriously by the writing bug that particular day, as I don't really like to write at college (too noisy). Bizarrely I find it really hard to write in the college library. People seem to hover over you a lot and have very loud, annoying conversations with each other. Our library sucks.

I prefer a quiet, largely uncluttered space, especially for first drafts (done with pen and paper). I can work in a coffee shop only if it's not too crowded and/or the music's not too loud.
Honestly, I'm pretty hard-bitten: Give me pen and paper and I can write anywhere.

I find myself to write better when I'm in my glass surrounded by people chattering and stuff. Not when someone's watching me write, but thwne i hear everyday noises...
I focus writing lyrics while listening to music or when I have guitar at my side and anice notepad.
THE BEST PLACE FOR ME is the computer.

I lock myself in my bed room, turn on my TV to absolutely anything, and crank up whatever music at the time inspires me.
I use so much different noise to drown out the world, because I can ignore a television, but for some reason cant ignore voices of real people.
Though in reality the best place for me is wherever it is silent, like in a classroom right after I finish a test when everyone else is still quiet.

Sounds funny but I can clear my head while driving and really come up with good things to write. Also taking a hot shower works too. Once that is done I go to my office and type away.
Other than that, our library works too, but only during the day when it's not busy. After school there is just too many people.

The jungle. But only as long as it's quiet.

I feel the same way. Driving is one of the best ways for me to think, but also the best way for me to crash my car, which is why I don't have a car anymore. Instead, I do most of my thinking when I take long walks, though I don't do that enough. It's really peaceful and opens up my mind a lot.
I write in many different places. It just depends on where I'm able to focus. Right now it's late at night in the basement of my dorm. Before that it was this one spot in deep corner of the computer lab. It always changes.

I would agree with driving and the shower. Exercising seems to be when I get all my best ideas and I have to keep them fixed in my head till I finish the workout.

i've written in beds, bars, cars, restaurants, bus depots, train stations, airports, the bathtub... on planes, trains, buses, ships, desks, floors, my lap, and the john... on computers, typewriters, note pads, scraps of paper, backs of receipts, blank pb pages or anything else i could find... while driving, eating, in meetings, at performances, between sleeping, dreaming, and i leave you to guess what else!...
as you can imagine, i have no preference and find no place 'better' than any other...

I like to write to music in a otherwise quiet room on a computer. I rarely write by hand
