Semicolon question 2

Why Word-Editing programs are programmed to keep capitalizing the first letter after the semicolon. Whether the 2nd sentence is dependent clause, or independent (separated by a colon) isn't the first letter after the punctuation mark supposed to be with lower case (unless it's a name of something)? Thanks.

Mine doesn't. Yes, the first letter after semicolon should be lower case (unless, as you say, it's a proper noun). Check your settings?

When using a program like word, it's usually a good idea to just turn auto correction off. Yes, sometimes it does the right thing, but the spell checker will catch those errors anyway. If it does the wrong thing just once, then it needs to go.

I agree. Turn off the auto-everything, learn to do it right for yourself.

Or stick to the previously mentioned coloring books.
