Red face I've got a list of 12 agents I'd like to query for a novel simultaneously. Too many?

Sounds like this business is so hard to break into, that 12 doesn't seem like so many. Thoughts? Thanks.

Do agents have guidelines the same as publishers? I have not gotten to that point yet.

I would say it is not too many as long each agent accepts simultaneous submissions.

I would query six at once, in that case. Then as rejections come in, query the next person on the list so that you always have six out at the same time.

The only problem you might encounter is if two agents ask to see the full ms as an exclusive. Then you should explain the situation to both of them. Cross that bridge if you come to it, however
