SO let me ask this then when we are mindlessly bopping around the INTERNET and come across an authors web site, have you ever read a writing tip that you thought was a good idea and just Incorporated into your own practices...

As Maia says, if you have a talent for words, you don't need the books.
Even having talent for words isn't enough to give you everything you need. Books do help. Books give you suggestions for how to take that talent for words and move it to the next level. I have a whole library of books on writing. Much of it didn't help. But some did, and I used it to become a multi-published book author. Because I know that having a roadmap to writing success can help you take the skill you have and hone it, I decided to create a book that helps people do that. I also work with beginning writers. And I see a lot of improvement when people take writing advice and work with it. The working with it is the key. Put into practice what you read. Don't just read it.
