I haven't read Wheel of Time, and I'm not interested in fantasy, but if a famous author has used a name for one of their lands, and you want to use the same name for the same reason, it's pretty stupid. Change it.

I think it is good marketting to give your character's names based on words from other languages. i.e. Gandolf is a combination of staff and wolf or somethign from some obscure country

True, but you'd still want to make sure it wasn't anything obscene or something that didn't fit whatsoever with your subject.

Lol. I think the discussion is over. Just change the name, it's extremely simple.

Yea, I'd use another name. A) It's generic B) it's a very widely recognized name, at least in fantasy.

Huh. I just looked Andor up in Wikipedia (I love Wikipedia! It's so great for looking for general info) and this is what I got:
Andor may refer to several different locations in fiction. Looks like the name first cropped up in JRR Tolkien's world, then...

run Andor through an anagram generator and see what comes to mind.

i would say change the name around a bit, instead of Andor maybe switch the letters around and see what comes out of it.

No, you really shouldn't use it. It will be very recgonizable seeing that you are writing fantasy and if I'm not mistaken doesn't Robert Jordan write fantasy as well? If so then people will notice and it probably wont be taken very well.

Hmm, anagram generator, good idea. I may try that. I don't think I'll use Andor. Thanks for the feedback!

With the mere fact that it has been used before, I wouldn't use it.. Come up with something new

Use it if you want. I created the name Argon for my series I'm writing to find out it was a name of an element. Just because something has been used in another story doesn't mean its entirely theirs. Well, except for the obvious words and of course if you don't want to make the two similiar. (My spelling may be off, so sorry)
