The humble writer
So what's everyones prefered method for writing? I like writing the good old fashioned way with a pad of paper and a pen, then when it's complete I type it up onto pc. I find it much harder to write straight to pc, not sure why that is...
I am what they call the humble writer.

It varies, mostly depending on my situation. If I can, I prefer to type stories straight up (mostly becuase I struggle to read my handwriting later), but if that option isn't available when creative inspiration strikes, I'm not adverse to the old-fashioned way. But I only write with my favourite pen (yes, I'm pedantic and weird )

I can only write on my computer when I cut everything else off. I will unplug my router, just so I can't be tempted.

I like to brainstorm on paper first, and then do the bulk of typing on my computer. I'll write by hand if I don't have access to my computer, but as soon as I get to back to it I'll type up what I had just wrote.

I type pretty much exclusively now, though I like to plot stuff on paper.

I'm like you, I find I work best with minimal distractions. I turn off the wireless reciever, put some music on, and just churn out creativity (not saying that all of it's good, I just write more when it's just word and media player).

I write it out longhand, then transfer it to my computer, editing and so on while I'm doing it.

Banzai, I've also found that meditating before hand helps me switch off the editor and just write. I'm going to need to mediate a lot to get through nanowrimo.

Depends on what genra I am writing about and what I have on hand at the time. If something strikes me whilst I am out I may even be tempted to scribble vague notes onto a napkin.

for somereason i can't write a first draft on a computer. I end up playing a game or staring at the processor. I write everything by longhand and then type it up on my computer. When everything is typed up i read through it again editing my work.

I like to use a pen and write out everything before putting it onto my pc. I'm adding MS Office to my computer. That way I'll have MS Word which will help me with my revisions.
The writer life is fun and siometimes hectic. But I survive.

i can/do write with anything, on anything, anywhere and any time at all...
but i do most of my writing these days directly on my laptop, to which i've added a peripheral mouse and keyboard, for comfy writing 7 days a week, up to 12-14 hours a day...
and yes, i do have a favo(u)rite keyboard!.... i sent away for what's called a 'media' keyboard, which is the most comfy one for full time writers... it has the calculator stuff lopped off, which places your mouse much closer to the keys your fingers are clicking and perched upon... thanks to google, i was able to get it directly from the importer/wholesaler for something like $13.40 delivered!
if interested in getting one, it's ms windows compatible, is called 'solidtek' and made in china by 'solid year co., ltd'... the us importer i got it from is somewhere in new jersey...

Meditating? Now that is interesting. How do you meditate? I've never tried anything like that before (always seemed a bit too freaky), but if you give me some pointers, I'm more than willing to give it ago.
