Morning/Afternoon/Evening?

This might not belong here. If it doesnt, you can move it. I was wondering when you guys get your ideas/thoughts? During the morning? Afternoon? Evening? Night? For some reason (maybe someone can tell me why this is) I tend to always come up with ideas in the evening. I'm always finding myself coming up with new thoughts right before I fall a sleep. It drives me crazy. I can spend all day thinking about trying to come up with new ideas but most of the time, I get nothing. But when it gets late or before I go to bed, I come up with these good ideas where I have to get up and write them down. How is it for everyone else?

I usually get mine at night when I'm in bed half awake or when I have a proper dream.

What happened to "night?" You're leaving out almost half the day there!

But yes, most of my ideas usually come late in the evening or at night. Since I'm a teenager and it's summer I usually stay up until 3 or 4am, a lot of the time even later. It makes writing a lot easier when I don't have the distractions of the day to worry about.

The latter half of the day. Definitely. In fact, I don't think I'm human in the morning, before about 10am or so.

It's weird though, I find that I do my best brainstorming while being slightly active. Housework, walking the dog, walking around at work all seem to stimulate thinking better than sitting still.

I have discovered that as well. Unfortunately, it usually comes at a time when I don't really have time to sit down and write...

Yeah, same for me. I try to jot stuff down on bits of paper, and I have a journal I write in nightly. Between those two things, I don't lose a lot, but I've seriously considered buying a minidisc recorder to dictate into.

...I'd look pretty kooky doing that though.

My bad. I'll edit my post. I def. would not be able to stay up that late. I would be really tired through out the day or feel sick if I did that. lol. I go to bed around 9:30 - 10:30pm. Anytime I go to bed past 12am, It totally messes me up through out the day.

My muse strikes at 5am in the morning when I'm driving to work. I can't tell if it's the darkness or the zoning out while driving that kicks it in.

I have had some of the most incredible ideas shortly before falling asleep. Some I've written down--if I don't, I usually forget them entirely, being in some half-sleep daze. The odd part is, in the morning (provided I've written it down or remembered it), my "grand idea" inevitably turns out to be the silliest, most incomprehensible thing ever conceived. So much for that!

Otherwise there seems no pattern, save that no writing materials (including the notebook I bought specially to jot down ideas) will be handy when I think of something.

I get ideas all the damn time, whether I'm awake or asleep. I won't live long enough to write about all the stuff I want to write about.

I get some from dreams... Quotes really inspire me and it doesn't have to be a certain time of day for that. But, yes night or, quite interestingly to me, while I'm sitting on the pot.

Same goes for me. Sometimes when I'm just laying down and relaxing I start to day dream and get great ideas.

I just remembered an article I read about how our minds do the best problem solving, creative thinking, etc. at different parts of the day. I wish I had that diagram.

My ideas tend to come to me as I go to sleep, late at night. Then I have to get up, make my self some tea, and stay up until two or three writing.

I also tend to have very vivid dreams, which can turn into stories.
