What's this called
This is probably a stupid question but its been bugging me for a while. What's it called when a person takes out a gun from the back of his pants? You know what I'm talking about? I know its not called "He puts the 9mm in the back of his pants"... lol.

There is no word for taking a gun out the back of your pants. You just pull the gun. The back of the pants is where you keep it if you can't afford a holster.

I swear theres a phrase or word for it. Could be wrong though. A holster is something a cop would have or agent etc. I mean when the person is under cover or just a regular person that doesn't have a holster but that "takes his gun out" from his back pocket? or the front of his pants etc. lol. I dont know. Thanks though.

silly billys, it would be "he drew his gun from the back of his pants" and when he was going to put it away he'd say "he holstered his gun" I think, even tho he might not have a holster to put it in... but i definitely know when he takes his gun out it's called drawing it.

Surprise, surprise; most places that sell guns also sell holsters, so it is not at all uncommon for a gun owner to own a holster. Now, if he bought the gun off the street, it's possible he wouldn't have a holster, and then he could be said to have, "tucked the gun under his belt, at the small of his back." You could say it in many different ways, as long as you are conveying what he did. There is no specific term for putting a gun in your pants, only the description of action.

he wanted to know what's it called for drawing a gun out, and there's no need to take that patronising tone lol... although admittedly his first post was kind of ambiguous.

Yeah, there was really no way to tell what he wanted from his first post. Though, I chose to address the second part of it. So, to address the first part, and make N happy, simply say that he drew his gun. Whether it be from a holster, from his belt, or from the sweaty spot in the crack of his ass, if he is pulling his gun from a place of rest to a position of action, it is called "drawing."

"From the waistband near the small of his back, he drew his weapon and fired off three shots in rapid succession."
If you don't know the name, just describe the action like Kane said.
