When Writing...
When writing what does one do? When does someone write something that they like? What enviroments do writers like to write in? Why does the writer write?

huh?
lol.
You write where you want to write. Write anywhere that inspires you to write. Write somewhere peaceful and relaxing. When does someone write something they like? I'm so confused lol.

I have an office in my new house, and I write there, facing the window with my back to the door.
Sometimes I listen to music, and sometimes I don't. If I'm writing an action sequence, then generally I put music on.
I also write late a night, when the rest of the family have gone to bed. I don't think thta helps, but I work during the day, so that's the only time I have.

I write in either WordPerfect or WordPad on my laptop, whilst sitting on my bed, which usually hasn't been fixed in several days, loosely covered in sheets, upright, Indian-style, usually, facing my bedroom door, often between 5am and 5pm, or 11pm and 3am.
I write because of my aspirations to be a published and enjoyed writer, and because writing and the prospect of achieving what I desire makes me happy, and helps me drown my daily sorrows.
Immediately before writing, I generally review my notes on my storyline, meditate, and review the notes again. Then, I open my laptop, take it out of standby mode, maximize the window of whichever text editor I choose to use, stretch my fingers, stretch my upper back, pop my neck, roll my shoulders, flex my abs, yawn, and begin writing.
Sometimes, during this time, I have the TV going, just so I have distraction to overcome. I find this aids in the creative process sometimes.
I generally don't have music playing.
Sometimes, I'll be eating small pieces of candy, every so often, usually when I write a sequence that I'm very happy with.
I write for anywhere from five minutes to three hours before getting up to drink some water or hot chocolate(if it's cold outside).
If it's cold, I may also take a step outside, breath the refreshing cold air, and return to the solace of my room.
That's what I do.
Peace.

I write anywhere... on the train, on my bed, in front of the tv, while waiting for friends at starbuck, airports, anywhere. Ideas just pop up with no warning sign! My laptop is always with me and fully charged too (ok,ok..not fully charged all the time, but close)
Like Verago, the tv is always on, but, muted, just so that i will always have something new and different to look at when i lift my head from the laptop...
I prefer to write in the quiet, though it doesnt really matter to me. Music is a no-no when i write. Cant focus. I listen to lyrics first then music, so it is a major distraction for me...
Food around me? Nope, the most i have is cup of hot choco and some gums..
Hope this helps!

When writing what does one do?
This writer takes out a pen and paper and starts putting words on the paper. Or sometimes she gets on the computer and types words like she's doing right now. In terms of storytelling, sometimes (but not always) it's simply a matter of responding to the question "And then what?"
When does someone write something that they like?
The vast majority of what this writer writes, she doesn't like. But she gets to a point of either abandonment or resigned acceptance, and then she moves on.
What enviroments do writers like to write in?
This writer does best with peace and quiet, although she's been observed writing on a subway train, an airplane, in various waiting rooms, and pretty much anywhere where she's not required to interact with people. She enjoys writing outside in the warmer months.
Why does the writer write?
This writer writes because it's the best way she has of expressing herself.

When I write I try to put down in words the ideas and scenes that I see in my head. I try to do them justice, but normally don't quite manage it.
Every so often the words just seem to fit and the story flows forth... Most of the time there's a significant amount of hammering the words to make them fit where they don't really want to go (at least without a little persuasion)...
I'm happy to write anywhere - I prefer writing on paper, but I tend only to do that when I have an up to date paper copy of the work to hand. Increasingly I find myself exclusively working on my laptop. I write at home, I write at work in my breaks, I write in bed, I write on the tube... Basically I'll write anywhere that it's physically possible provided I have either my laptop or pencil and paper. If I can, I'll have music on in the background, although not too loud as otherwise I'll end up listening to it rather than writing...
Why do I write? Because I have one story that keeps nagging at me to tell it. It demands to be told. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), whilst I am focussing on this story, ideas for other stories keep assailing me, meaning that once I finish this one, I'll be starting several others (as a point of principle I'm holding back from starting anything else until this one is finished - at least to first draft - I owe it to my characters; they've been waiting for me to feel the urge to write for the last 15 years, I can't keep them waiting any longer)

My favorite setting is a dark room where I can see nothing but my monitor (I use Word). But other near necessities are a nearby forest or mountain, a window to open when it rains, and the opportunity to occasionally smash my brain cells with a psychoactive hammer... alcohol unfortunately has to suffice most of the time because of the strict laws of the country I live in.

Lol..
I right here, cooped up in the loft where I'm not disturbed by anything by my mobile..
I used to listen to my eyepod as i wrote, but i discovered that when i listened to fast music, my writing was fast paced, and when i listened to slow music, my writing was slow So i ended up with a straaange paced piece...
So now I listen to slow music when i want to write slow paced and fast music when i want to right something fast paced.. weird huh?
Lol slugify.. drinking on your own in a dark room is unhealthy (and a little sad)

I never write drunk and although I love to write stoned (some of my most inspired passages come about when my mind is askew) it always requires SERIOUS revision and almost never stays relevant to the topic at hand... Basically it's like a power brainstorming session that I have to cut and paste to various parts all across the breadth of my work.
