It is common for authors to write about places they haven't visited, so I wrote a story set in Moscow but seen through the eyes of an Australian. I read books on Russia, came across lots of Internet pictures, browsed some Internet sites where expat English language teachers posted their impressions of living in Moscow or Saint Petersberg for a couple of years and I watched some Russian films. I also interviewed people who had been there, and subsequently showed them the drafts of the descriptive scenes to make sure I got it right.

Maybe you could try this approach? I do know that a story set in an exotic location can interesting and unique by virtue of the location the story is set in.

Now that is something I could do thank you so very much, I really appreciate your valuable input.
Buggs, I most certainly will write you, and so will everyone else that sees your address!
What do you do for your allergies, does nutrition not help? For my family it does plus the addition of quite a bit of vitamin c and b. it has dramatically changed their health for the better.
hugs to both of you. Hasia is trying to crawl on me and I cannot write.

Kitty's Adventures

Hi Sis,

The curious tale of Kitty's Adventures came about in a rather extraordinary manner, which I shall relate to you in this missive:

I was happily working in the garden one perfect summer afternoon among the swelling pumpkins and reddening tomatoes. My humble garden is located next to my workshop where a barn swallow had fashioned a comfortable nest under its protective eves. Kitty was lazing about on the lawn with his eyes fixed upon the sky, which was a veritable stage set for a bevy of winged dancers performing an arabesque of manoeuvres in the firmament.

Off to the side of this stage, an anxious mother was preparing her fledgling for the dance. But when the awkward juvenile attempted to take his fateful flight, his wings failed him and in a flash he plunged to the earth where Kitty pounced upon the ill-starred fledgling and darted off for the underbrush like the devil absconding with the soul of one who had fallen into the maw of sin.

The mother was livid, flying around me and scolding me. How could I allow such a dreadful calamity happen? The mother knew I was the companion of the wicked cat because she saw me carrying Kitty around on occasions and seen we lived in the same house.

Within a few minuets the sky was full of swallows, who came from neighbouring fields, circling around above the garden and chirping wildly. I felt so sad and helpless because us humans don't have any control over our cats. It is as if the cats own us and we are their servants but the swallows just don't see it that way.

After Kitty reappeared from under of the bushes where he'd been sinfully enjoying his catch and feeling quite smart, he slept the remainder of the day under the canopy of the cherry tree. As I went to bed at night, Kitty went out wandering as he is wont to do at night. I soon fell into a deep sleep while reflecting upon the sad events that spoilt an otherwise splendid day.

I awoke in the morning with a curious sense of the sublime, like Alice did after she awoke from her adventure. So after letting Kitty in, I set myself down to write about something that I swear I knew nothing about, but something inside me wanted to write about it, so I simply passively let it be written through me and that is how Kitty's nighttime adventures came about.

Kitty swears that this is how things actually transpired that summer evening a long time ago.

Oh that is just magic. Poor poor baby.
I once rescued a kitten that had been thrown away and left to die. I say rescue in the broadest sense because the creature was just old enough to live without her mother but I could not catch her no matter how I tried. She was very very wild. One day I got her into a box and brought her in the house, it was below freezing. She went beserk and regretfully I let her go free. From that moment on we called her Olivia and she would creep up to the top step and wait staring at the door until one of us opened it. We would carefully set a can or two or three of food on the porch and she would devour it. She was so lonely and was in love with another cat that we rescued and that lived with us indoors. He was Pretty boy but arrogant and having been neutred he despised her. She would follow him everywhere and lay beside him and he would growl but be too lazy to move.
We tried always to trap her in a calm way so we could get her to the SPCA and see if a home could be got for her, she was strikingly pretty.
Finally we borrowed a humane bear trap and caught her and she went away and was adopted to a farm I think. But I am sure she stayed quite wild. Before she left she crept up the big maple tree and caught a poor daddy Robin , she was that quiet. I screamed at her to let go of him but she ran underneath the car and it was crying pitfully. I ran inside and covered my ears and felt sick, just sick about it.
I had no lovely dreams after and Livvy just went about her cat business. Your cat and you are extraordinary.
I like that story. I shall copy it out and keep it.
thank you very much.
