Writing comedies.
I'm pretty much know as the "funny" friend because I am insanely random and spastic. SO, my friends said that I should try and write a comedy, which I think would be fun, but do comedies usually have like an underlying meaning? Or are they just for fun? Like the book "Sex, Drugs, and Coco Puffs" ... what is that considered as? I don't know, I'm just new to the comedy scene and I need some help, so any advice is appreciated.

You can write whatever kind of comedy you want. Some have underlying meanings and some don't. Do what feels right.

yeah... READ lots of stuff that's similar to what you want to write, before attempting it... there's a big difference between 'being funny' and writing good humorous stories/sketches/screenplays/whatever...
as with acting, writing comedy is harder to do well than writing 'straight'... only a rare few can pull it off successfully...
first, make sure you're a good writer, period... then, start writing funny...

Comedy derived from jokes is going to be bad, and comedy derived from situation is going to be stale. Get your comedy from the characters and their interactions. More importantly, though, don't just make the events funny, but make the writing funny. Exploit subjunctive tension and odd twists-of-phrasing.
Most importantly, though, don't become self-parodying.
