frustrations

Sometimes I feel I'm writing well, and then just to amuse myself, and then I don't feel like I'm much of a writer as I am just writing. Anyone else go through the ups and downs like this? What to do about feeling like I'm getting worse at this craft instead of better?

If you feel like you're getting worse instead of improving, then you should stop writing and do something else for a while. If you feel like you're damaging your skills by continuing to use them, then stop. Don't keep writing and hurting them just because you can.
Maybe if you take a break and come back, you'll have a fresh outlook, and your fingers won't be so weary from typing stuff you think is terrible.
I was really getting down on myself during my last project, and I finally just decided to set it aside for a while, and I haven't gone back to it yet, because whenever I would sit down at my desk, it felt more like I was scarring my project than helping it.

Take a break. relax. Go for a walk. Play some music.

Good advice. Go get drunk, do drugs, get laid, steal cars. It'll give you somethign to write about.

Hmm.

One of these days I'm going to end up in court for inciting kids to commit crimes.

Oh well. Do all the above, but don't get caught, and if you do, don't mention my name.

Ah to hell with it. Get caught too. Getting arrested is always something you can use in a story somewhere.
