Selorian is an unknown quantity at this point
With the video game story I mentioned earlier, everyone gave their input and I wrote the story. None of them were writers, so that was the logical thing to do.

With the other example where I wrote with my wife, I started with a scene, and then she would write the next based off of mine and the ideas we had already developed in planning. You couldn't tell the two seperate styles apart. I think any good writer can adapt their styles to match a co-writer's style. Most of us begin by imitation to begin with, so it isn't hard.

I'm co-writing a novella with a fellow creative writing major friend. We're alternating chapters. The biggest frustration is that we have to wait for each other to finish one chapter before moving on to the next. At some points during the week, I really want to work on the story, but his chapter's not done yet. The problem is that we've been slightly deviating from the outline, so writing the chapters out of order might end up being a lot of wasted effort.

Another big problem is that while our styles are similar, our descriptiveness and level of details are not the same. This will be changed later, but we are doing this as a final project for a class we're taking, so getting it done is more important than making it ready to publish. (The teacher will love it either way, so we're not worried)

I enjoy writing with him, because we have so much in common and we're both good writers, but I don't think I know anyone else with whom I'd ever want to co-write something. There'd be major creative differences.

On the problem with different writing styles

I can see how to different writing styles on one work can be a problem, but at the stage of editing isn't possible for both writer to adjust styles and merge them into one, I mean I'm sure that we've all read a story or two with two good writers that merged style nicely to tell their stories. And in my case at times I have a problem with descriptions of places, people, and things even thou I may have a clear idea of what direction I would like the reader to go in imaging these story elements. Have another who is stronger in description would probably help my work a lot in it' beginnings and in it's end.
