I don't really care for really long descriptions, so I try to just give whats important. Like, if it doesn't really matter what color of hair a person has, then let the reader decide that. But if it does, then try and describe it in a fun way (for the reader) or bits and pieces here and there, like others have said. You could think of the characters personality and at the same time you describe what they look like, you can have it corrospond with their likes and dislikes. Am I making sense?
