Cencorship?
I don't mean bok cencorship, I mean film cencorship.
Word came to me of a film being banned because of an actress being in a bath with a child. Or scenes getting cut from the grudge because of people going nuts over a naked child.
Then I turn on Nickelodeon and I hear about 'This months U Magazine' at one o clock in the day featuring 'The Best Sex you've NEVER had'
Or a few days ago on a mystery drama at 21:00 that everyone watches
(It's that good) showing a pornography ring.
I don't understand any of this. In 'Monty Python: The Meaning Of Life' there are three naked children, nobody went insane then.
Can someone help me?
Disclaimer: Being a member of the ISPCC, I obviously do not endorse the abuse of chldren... Infact, I beat a guy up for that VERY out of Character for a choir boy! (ME)

first, af, you're quoting 2nd[or more]-hand rumor, not necessarily fact...
and second, who did the so-called 'censoring' and where?... people in various parts of the world and in various positions of authority are wont to censor this and that from time to time, but that doesn't mean any single example of censorship is a standard that everyone in the industry or the world follows...
as you've observed with your list of contradictions, there is no single code of what's ok and what's not that's followed by everyone everywhere...
so, i'm afraid no one can help you to understand the un-understandable [human behavior!]...
love and hugs, maia

I'm doomed...
So... no matter what I do, I'm bound to piss someone off
(if you pardon the language)
I thank you Maia, you are always helpful.

Why would you want to not piss people off? Often, pissing people off over content in some form of media shows more about themselves than the medium they're criticising.

Indeed. I wrote an anti recruitment article, and I made it controversial on purpose and I got a lot of people upset. The president of the student body hates me now lol. However, its refreshing to note that quite a few teachers have said (privately of course) that they enjoyed my article

Actually, Monty Python (in general) has often been cited in FCC complaints - though (far as I know) most of those complaints have been thrown out for technical reasons. I'm by no means up on the facts, but I seem to remember the Boston PBS station being a particular target.
I understand that you're talking about child nudity in specific though. Here I'll note that your examples of censorship were for modern projects while they were in the editing process, while your exception has been widely distributed for a generation. That alone makes the examples quite unalike.

Thanks. I'm actually trying NOT to piss people off.
Which is why I asked, another example is the word 'piss' a while ago that was a curse word, and now in the uk/ireland the word bitch on soap operas, that was never done before.

I think the movie you're talking about is called Birth. In the movie a woman thought her dead husband had been reincarnated in a ten-year-old boy. The bath scene has (allegedly, I've never seen the film) a distinct sexual undertone, and thus the controversy surrounding it. I'm not sure if it was ever banned or even censored- IMDB has nothing listed in 'alternate versions'.

It dosn't matter anyway. I'll deal with cencorship when the time comes! There's nothing nasty in any of my books or films anyway.
But I was writing a film in aid of the ISPCC about a girl who must deal with the abuse of her parents.
(Normally I write comedy I was amazed at how dark I can be!)
I just need to know how far I can go. I don't want to go any further than the mere illusion of evils but I'd like to know my limits.

None of those examples you supplied at the beginning of this thread sounded like they should be censored to me...
And with the magazine ad about sex, they should probably shrink-wrap all the girly-teen magazines here like they do with pornography magazines, if you think they should be censored. That's sad.

Don't worry about "pissing people off" some people need to be pissed off, this is one of the most liberal forums I've ever laid eyes on, they won't bust your chops for expressing an opinion.
I won't comment about the films you cited, as I haven't seen them and haven't thought far enough to form my own opinion. As for the film your writing, if you want to be really conservative, just don't show anything. They can't censor anything you don't show. As for content of the movie, I couldn't say and I don't want to stifle your creativity. I will comment that it is my opinion that it's all in how old and mature your actors are that determines what you can say or do in your movie.
Anyway, all my best aztec
