Quote Analysis Paper
Hi. First post here, and I can use all the help I can get.
Our first assignment in my advanced writing clas is to analyze a quote that we feel strongly about. Here's my outline so far...this paper is giving me a lot of trouble, and I had to just use crap that isn't very relevent just to fill an outline. This took me 5 hours straight to do. Enjoy.
PS: My quote is: "I submit to you, that if a man hasn't discovered something he will die for, he isn't fit to live."

decker...
first of all, it's expected here that new posters introduce themselves in the introduction section, before asking for help...
secondly, most members won't go elsewhere to see what you want help on... so you need to paste the piece right into your post, if you want feedback...
love and hugs, maia

Uh, okay. Sorry. I've introduced myself. I'm not sure how to keep something in outline form by copy/paste method. I'll try, though.
I. Segregation permeated every level of society.
A. It crippled black economic situation.
1. Blacks could not get jobs.
2. Blacks were not offered financial benefits.
B. Segregation crippled blacks socially.
1. Could not congregate in the streets (1st amendment)
2. Were denied civil rights, such as health care.
3. Blacks could not vote.
II. What did he intend to accomplish?
A. His immediate goals were to abate the laziness of the negro response.
1. Most blacks were completely lazy in their response.
2. Restaurants agreed to desegregate, and blacks segregated themselves.
3. Some blacks protested against MLK.
B. Who was fit to live?
1. Basically, all those who were ready to die for justice did.
2. Massacres, rapes, other crimes against protesting blacks.
III. Modern Adaptations
A. I apply this to everyday life.
1. I go on mission trips.
2. I defend what I believe in
3. I would put myself in danger if need be
B. Other people can apply this in smaller ways.
1. caring for family
2. success/work ethic
3. challenging themselves

Yeah, I think you have a pretty good outline, when you write it out it won't be very hard to make a good paper.
Some advice, one thing you should always try to do is make the subject as tangible as possible. Acknowledge every angle, every perspective, and emphasize every fact. Humans operate that way. The grader will think the information is the most relevent info in the world if emphasize why you think it is (which you should if your putting it in the paper, right, right?), and give good explanations. They grader will take into heavy account every fact you take into heavy account and will view the situation from every angle you do. And if you add a lot of emotion to something the grader will get dragged in and will see angles you haven't even thought of. Personify everything you write.
